Phishy NYE

I was able to spend another wonderful NYE weekend in NYC enjoying the musical delights of Phish. A long weekend of music, friends and lots of dancing! Looking forward to where 2018 will take us.

Night Lights

Wandered around DC last night looking for lights. I love how color and feeling shifted based on the environment. Cold and harsh compared to warm and inviting.

The sun sets on The Mall

Another sunset trip to the National Mall. I should probably move on from the Washington Monument, but with the sun setting in the south it has the most dramatic background right now. Once it gets dark, my attention turns to trying some longer timed exposures with building and street lights, while playing around with car lights moving through the scene. Temps are getting colder, should probably bring a flask next time! Full National Mall Gallery.

National Mall

Living in Washington, DC I have tried not to take the National Mall for granted. I can’t even count the number of times I have gone on dog walks on the mall. One thing I had never done was purposely gone at sunset to take pictures. It was cold, the light changed too quickly, and I had a lot of fun. I plan to return soon!

Cabrillo Tide Pools

Located on the southern end of Point Loma in San Diego is Cabrillo National Monument. A dedication to Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo, the first European to set foot on the West Coast of the United States. Along with an amazing view of San Diego, there is ocean front tide pools that are easily accessible to visitors. During my time living in San Diego, this park was one of my favorite places to go for sunset. Here are a few images and there are more in a gallery. All these were taken on a fall day in 2004, during sunset.
